Dr. Susan Aldridge Receives the 2013 Hall of Fame Award from USDLA for Leadership in Distance Learning

Dr. Susan Aldridge, Senior Fellow at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities in Washington, DC and past president of the University of Maryland University College (UMUC), was recently honored by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) with the 2013 Hall of Fame Award “for her significant contribution to the field of distance learning through leadership, technology, research and teaching”.

USDLA presented the Award to Dr. Susan Aldridge in conjunction with the 2013 National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. French-American Foundation Calls for Applications for its 2013 Immigration Journalism Award

The French-American FoundationUnited States has opened applications for its 2013 Immigration Journalism Award, the first award to specifically honor excellence in the coverage of immigration and integration worldwide. Cash prizes will be awarded for visionary stories with the potential to advance public debate on immigration in print, broadcast and online media.

The French-American Foundation Awards Jury will recognize the work of two journalists one based in Europe, the other in North America. Applicants will be considered on the basis of the quality of their work and the potential impact it may have on the question of global immigration. Award recipients will be invited to attend and speak at a ceremony in November 2013 in New York, where their work will be celebrated in the presence of renowned media professionals.

In announcing this years competition, the second year for the prize, Charles Kolb, president of the French-American FoundationUnited States, stated that Immigration remains of vital concern at the center of discussions in the United States, France, and many other countries in the world. The French-American Foundations award contributes to improving the medias coverage of the topic by celebrating excellence in the field.

The Foundation has assembled an experienced jury to judge the Immigration Journalism Award, chaired by Sylvie Kauffmann, editor at large of Le Monde, and Michael Oreskes, senior managing editor at The Associated Press in New York.
